Understanding Roulette and How it Works
Are you curious as to what is the meaning of roulette and how the game works? If yes, then you're in the right place and should find this article beneficial in one way or another.
Roulette is a game of chance played in casinos. It's a borrowed word from the French language and when translated in English means "little wheel". When playing the game, players need to choose among numbers, number combinations and the red/black colors to place their bets in. The game starts when a dealer spins the wheel and then spins a ball in an opposing direction in a titled track that goes around the wheel. As you may already know, the ball will eventually lose momentum and fall straight on the wheel and into one of the 37 (in European roulette) or 38 (in American roulette) colored and numbered pockets on the wheel. This is how the winning number or color is determined on each play and, obviously, whoever guesses right wins the bet.
Players have a lot of options where they would place their bet when playing roulette. For example, a player who chooses to bet on the 'outside' of the wheel will select bets based on whether the winning number is odd or even, the pocket color, or based on larger positional groupings of pockets. Players can also place their debts 'inside' of the wheel where players choice of bet include the proximity of a small range of pockets on the layout and the specific number of the pocket where they think the ball would land. At the end of the day, the payout or the amount of money a player earns by playing roulette depends on the probability of getting the outcome he/she has placed their bet on.
What if the winning color and number is dependent on the roulette wheel? A solution that dealer uses for this case would be to mark the winning color or number in the layout of the roulette table. The marker creates a new rule for the game which states that nobody can make, collect or remove any bets. Then, the dealer would get all of the losing bets using a rake or his hands and then identify how much payout remains in the outside and inside bets. When the payout has been computed, somebody would take the dolly away and that is the only time that the players can get a hold of their winnings and start placing new bets with the winning chips are still on the board.
